As a Front of House Staff member, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for our customers at the coffee shop. You’ll be the face of our establishment, interacting with customers, taking orders and ensuring excellent service.

Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service:
    • Greet customers warmly as they enter the coffee shop.
    • Assist customers in choosing menu items and provide recommendations.
    • Take orders accurately and efficiently.
    • Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and address any concerns promptly.
  2. Order Preparation and Service:
    • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages (such as coffee, tea, and specialty drinks).
    • Deliver orders to tables or offer takeaway packaging.
    • Clear tables promptly after customers finish their meals.
  3. Cash Handling:
    • Operate the cash register, process payments, and provide accurate change.
    • Maintain cash handling procedures and ensure cash drawer accuracy.
    • Handle credit card transactions and maintain a secure payment process.
  4. Maintaining Cleanliness:
    • Keep the front of house area clean and organised.
    • Wipe down tables, chairs, and countertops.
    • Regularly sweep and mop the floor.
    • Restock supplies (napkins, utensils, condiments) as needed.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure timely order preparation.
    • Coordinate with other team members to maintain a smooth flow of service.
    • Assist in restocking inventory and monitoring stock levels.

  1. Adherence to Health and Safety Standards:
    • Follow food safety guidelines and hygiene practices.
    • Ensure compliance with health regulations.
    • Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (coffee shop, restaurant, or hospitality) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to work over 7 days (on a rota), including weekends.
