Accounts Assistant

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced accounts assistant to join our family run garden located in heart of Scunthorpe. This main purpose of this role is to manage all accepts of accounts up to management level.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Sales invoicing, credit control, till debtors and account reconciliations
  • Processing supplier invoices, matching up against orders & delivery notes
  • Purchase ledger and statement reconciliation
  • BACS payment runs

- Time sheet collating and processing

  • Processing of payroll on Sage
  • Managing employee issues. e.g sickness, holidays, SMP, SPP, living wage, P45’s, holiday pay, overtime, expenses etc.
  • Administering auto-enrolment pension schemes
  • Submissions to HMRC
  • Assisting with account management information
  • Recording cash expenses
  • Processing of monthly takings journals
  • Compliance and entry in line with the HTA voucher scheme
  • Report directly to owners daily
  • VAT returns
  • Answering the telephone and dealing with customer queries
  • Any ad hoc duties that should arise

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • AAT qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years experience within accounts
  • Experience of Xero account system
  • EPOS experience desirable
  • Confident and clear communicator
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a small team
  • Able to work under pressure with a drive to meet daily deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Salary dependant on experience and to be negotiated with the successful candidate
